"Homer Knowles Art Pottery Bowl"

....A beautiful, well documented piece of California
Art Pottery, this large bowl was produced
by the Homer Knowles Pottery Company...

According to Lois Lehner in her mammoth
work,  "In 1923, Homer Knowles of Knowles,
Taylor and Knowles, completed a small
plant with five kilns in Santa Clara and
went bankrupt the same year"...

This lovely example measures ~10 5/8"
diameter, and rests ~2 5/8" tall,
with all-about  scalloping...

The  glaze coloring is a chartreuse
with mossy
brown mottling...

While most of the marking is somewhat
indistinct ( it's incised under glaze ),
the large "KTK" and smaller "Calif."
can be made out fairly clearly...

There are absolutely no nicks, chips,
cracks, hairlines or repairs to this
piece, nor  is it crazed...

At the underside are a couple small
firing-stilt marks...

...A wonderful piece of quality, hand-thrown
California Art Pottery from a legendary, if
short-lived firm.....
