"Figural Metal S&P Shakers"

...I am quite sure this cute little couple is relatively old, though
I hesitate to say antique...they may well be, but I don't know that...
They are hollow-cast, in a soft, non-ferous metal...
My guess is pewter, but they could be lead...

Though with quite a bit of chipping, I'd  say the
original paint is 90 to 95% intact.

Each stands ~ 2 3/8" tall; the female is the "pepper",
with a single hole in her bonnet; the male
has 2 holes in his hat...

The male retains what appears to be an original
cork stopper, while the other  is absent...
I have not attempted to remove the one...

All metal is in good condition, and I see no evidence of
significant  corrosion or other damage...
Perhaps Pennsylvania Dutch in origin ( ? )
An unusual addition to someone's collection,
to be sure......
